who are we?

The Boat Doc was founded in 2007 by Josh Wiesner (pictured above), a 25+ year veteran of the marine industry. Josh is an avid outdoorsman, professional tournament angler, and mechanic so he decided to combine his passions into owning and operating his own boat dealership. Josh graduated from the Marine Power Distribution program at Eau Claire Technical College (EWTC) and from there went to a Mercury Marine service school in Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. After graduating Josh took a position with a Fond du Lac-area marine dealership and quickly worked his way up to lead technician. During this time he became more familiar with Mercury and Mariner engines. After working as an engine technician for four years Josh took a position at Mercury Marine’s headquarters in their Dealer Technical Service Department. In this position, Josh was responsible for troubleshooting various engine questions from authorized Mercury dealers.  If a dealer couldn't diagnose an engine they would call Josh to walk them through the repair.  While at Mercury Marine, Josh built on his knowledge of Mercury and Mariner products and ultimately completed his master certification in Mercury outboards, the highest technical certification a Mercury technician can achieve. Josh spent four years in the Mercury Dealer Technical Service Department before realizing his dream of opening his boat dealership. After securing a great location for his dealership, a premium brand of boats to sell, and the Mercury certification he already possessed, Josh decided it was time to offer the boaters of Central Wisconsin a new and highly trained option for boat and engine sales and service.
